Elmatic supplies an extensive range of high-quality plate heaters, designed to deliver reliable and efficient performance across a wide variety of industrial applications. Our plate heaters are widely used in extrusion die heads, extruder barrels, hot plates, window welding machines, and many other heating processes where precision and durability are essential.
Plate Heaters Design & Construction
Our heater plates are manufactured from aluminium, mild steel, or stainless steel, depending on the application requirements and operating conditions. Each heater is built to offer excellent thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and long service life.
These heaters offer direct replacements for standard cast aluminium or aluminium bronze plate heaters, offering a cost-effective and easily maintainable alternative. They feature square-section tubular sheathed heating elements, which are highly regarded for their strength, reliability, and adaptability in demanding industrial environments.
A key advantage of our design is the ease of maintenance – the ceramic plate heaters are fully replaceable and removable, allowing rapid replacement of elements in the event of a breakdown. This design significantly reduces downtime and simplifies maintenance, helping to keep your production lines running smoothly.
Plate Heaters Features & Custom Options
Our High Temperature Plate Heaters introduce several design improvements for enhanced performance and energy efficiency.
- Custom Thickness Options: Available in thicknesses ranging from 7mm to 16mm as standard, with thicker designs available upon request to suit specific heating requirements.
- Integrated Insulation: The incorporation of insulation within the plate construction helps minimise heat loss, resulting in lower energy consumption and improved thermal efficiency.
- Enhanced Terminal Protection: For high-temperature applications, our ceramic plate heaters are equipped with a louvered, stand-off terminal box. This design effectively reduces the temperature in the terminal area, improving both safety and component lifespan.
Each unit can be custom-designed to meet your exact specifications, ensuring the best possible performance for your particular application.
Advantages Over Cast-In Heaters
Plate Heaters offers several key advantages compared to traditional cast-in heaters:
- No Pattern Charges: Elimination of pattern tooling costs results in significant savings, especially for custom or small-batch production.
- Lower Replacement Costs: The replaceable heating element is a fraction of the cost of a full cast unit, reducing long-term maintenance expenses.
- Faster Lead Times: Replacement elements are typically available within two weeks, compared to the longer delivery times often required for cast-in heaters. This ensures quick recovery in the event of a breakdown and helps minimise production interruptions.
- Consistent Heating Performance: Despite these cost and logistical benefits, our plate heaters maintain the same high level of thermal performance and durability expected from premium heating equipment.
Working Temperatures & Performance
Aluminium – Up to 300°C & 25W/in²
Mild / Stainless Steel – Up to 600°C & 35 W/in²
These performance parameters ensure that Elmatic plate heaters can be configured to meet a wide range of industrial heating demands, from moderate to high-temperature operations.
At Elmatic, we are dedicated to providing bespoke heating solutions that deliver superior performance, reliability, and durability, tailored to meet the unique needs of each of our clients.
