Design

Our heated hoses consist of smooth PTFE tube sheathed with stainless steel, insulated by silicon foam (200°C) union with a temperature control by PT100 or thermocouple type J or K centered on the heating hose.

Elmatic’s heated hoses will heat any type of flexible hose, from a single hose to multiple hoses bunched together. We can also heat hoses given by customers or advice on suitable alternatives.

The labelled diagram above is a typical bulk of heated hoses that we undertake. We do however pride ourselves on our individual service and our objective approach to each customer’s particular needs.

We try therefore not to describe any particular construction as a standard heated hose but offer a range of variations to suit each application.

The diagram also refers to a particular state of fabrication achieved at the present time. As a progressive and innovative company, we are always looking at new improvements in both materials and techniques, so we would reserve the right to amend or modify any of the above in the light of continuing development.

All of our heated hoses must be connected to a suitable temperature controller otherwise, damage will occur. Temperature controllers for all types or applications can be specified and supplied with heated hoses or separately.

Designs

Our design of our load banks has high quality mineral insulated, tubular and incoloy sheathed resistors which are mounted into a powder coated, galvanised sheet metal enclosure.

Also, they have an integral impeller fan which provides forced air cooling, a thermal airflow switch and fan motor interlock to ensure that the elements are not energised without adequate airflow.

A terminal box is provided which houses all switchgear, selector switches, required instrumentation and external connection is to stud terminals.

A separate 230V/1Ph/50Hz supply is required for all load banks rather than 230V/1Ph/50Hz or 400V/3Ph/50Hz to energise the control and fan circuits. Smaller units are fitted with lifting handles and castors; larger units have wheels or skids and lifting points as required.

At Elmatic, we have our own sheet metal fabrication Cardiff shop which produces components for our production of well-built industrial and electric heating elements. We produce our own fabricated terminal boxes, mounting plates, diverters, clamp bands plus many more purpose built special requirements whether it is small or large.

Our Cardiff sheet metal fabrication shop consists of an Amada for CNC punching which has a capacity for 2500mm x 1000mm sheet size. Thicknesses up to 3mm in steel and 2mm in stainless steel.

Also, our sheet metal fabrication shop in Cardiff has a CNC folding machine (Brake Press) for accuracy when forming into required shapes up to 2500mm wide.

We have an experienced workforce who are competent in all aspects of fabrication work including welding and assembly.

Operation

Elmatic’s industrial insulation jackets are specifically designed for the rigours of the moulding shop environment. Insulated barrels save power and money which offers a faster start up and provide a safer workplace. Insulation jacket modules are manufactured using a multi-layer construction comprising of outer layers and selected fabrics enclosing an inner insulation blanket.

Our experienced fitting team takes on-site measurements to ensure a perfect fit and achieve the maximum advantages from the properties of insulation jackets. Materials 

The hot face layer consists of a special high temperature resistant fabric which stays flexible after exposure to extended temperatures. The outer layer of the PTFE or silver grey silicone coated glass fabrics offer both an aesthetically pleasing and durable finished surface.

The insulation layer is Superwool 607 TM, a low bio persistent fibre without the health risks associated with refractory fibres and capable of temperatures of up to 1050C.
